Getting to DESY Zeuthen

• Arriving by plane
  • Airport Berlin Tegel
    • Go by bus X9 to the S/U-Bahn-Station Jungfernheide take S-Bahn S46 direction Königs Wusterhausen. (it takes about 1:10 hours)

    • Use the airport bus to S-Bahn-Station Schönefeld, take S-Bahn S9 to Berlin Adlershof (3rd stop) and change to S-Bahn S46 direction Königs Wusterhausen or S8 to Zeuthen. (it takes about 30 minutes)

• Arriving by train
  There are a number of possibilities to reach Zeuthen by train. Which one you choose depends on the direction where you come from. In the following we want to describe the most usual ways. You always have to take a train to Berlin. The most important railway stations in Berlin are Berlin Ostbahnhof, Berlin Zoologischer Garten, Berlin Schönefeld and Berlin Lichtenberg, most of the trains arrive there.
  • Railway station Berlin Zoologischer Garten and Ostbahnhof
    • Take the S-Bahn S9 into the direction Flughafen Schönefeld. Leave the train at Berlin Baumschulenweg change to S46 or S8. (it takes about 55 minutes from Berlin Zoologischer Garten and about 35 minutes from Berlin Ostbahnhof)

    • Take S-Bahn S5 into the direction S+U Warschauer Straße. Leave the train at Ostkreuz (2nd stop) and change to the S-Bahn S8 in the direction Grünau. Then take the S-Bahn S46 (direction Königs Wusterhausen) to Zeuthen. (it takes about 40 minutes)

• Arrival at the S-Bahn station Zeuthen
  • On leaving the station take the exit (in the tunnel) to the right. Walk about 50m to the main road (Goethestrasse) and turn to the right. Follow the street for about 8 minutes. You will cross Ahornallee and (on the left side) Kastanienallee, before you get to Platanenallee on the left side. DESY is located in Platanenallee (after 50m on the right side).

• Arriving by car
  • Leave Berlin ring (A 10) at exit Königs Wusterhausen 5 km east of Schönefeld junction and drive via Chausseestraße, Freiheitsstraße, Fontaneallee to Platanenallee. The distance is about 5 km from the exit to the institute.
